Gecko created South sea arts 8 years ago selling small carved tikis in the beginning and has now moved onto other materials to create his art work on.
His art is a blend of Polynesian pop with a lot of traditional mixed in. Born on the islands, his love for art started at an early age of 8 years old. Watching family members creating beautiful wood carvings from tikis to floral items. He did not pick up a chizel until around 8 years ago when he had been introduced to Polynesian pop culture in Oceanside California by a very good friend Dean “Da fire chief”. Dean lend Gecko his first palm log and chizles and has been responsible for starting that fire into Gecko. Gecko has since gone on to carve pieces for various musicians, restaurants, and homes all over the globe. His most memorable moment is carving one of his tikis for the late Martin Denny, the high priest and founder of exotica music.
Gecko has gone to sculpting and designing some of todays marvelous tiki mugs that have hit the market since 2004. Since then he has created the set called “Legends Of Exotica”. These are tiki mugs that pay homage to other Exotica music artist such as Martin Denny, Augie Colon and Robert Drasnin and next up no other then Arthur Lymann. Another love of Gecko is to create hand made custom ceramic tiki bowls that are hand built as well as made with various molds refurbished with his own works
